Don't Go to Sleep

This weekend I am returning home to New Jersey so that I can drive my newly acquired Pontiac Grand Am back to Texas. It will be very enjoyable to see my family again, albeit only for a day. However, my dad has graciously offered to join me for my third Jersey-Texas excursion, and I aim to take full advantage of my two day drive with him.

This will be my third road trip from New Jersey to Texas since August 2003. Interestingly enough, this will also be the third vehicle I have used to make that trip. I am one for two so far in these paved adventures, having totaled my Ford Explorer during my initial endeavor. However, my January 2004 expedition was a grand success. What will this road trip bring?

My theory is as follows: I fell asleep at the wheel during my first drive from New Jersey to Texas. Some people have suggested that this brief nap had a causal effect on the ensuing accident. This seems to me a somewhat reasonable thought, as I remained awake while driving throughout the entire second trip and did not experience a single crash. Therefore, I believe the best way for me to return to San Antonio unharmed after my upcoming road trip is to refrain from any closed-eye rest while behind the steering wheel.

I'll be sure to give a full account of this experiment should it succeed. If it does not succeed, I refuse to promise any account at all, as my ability to give said account could possibly be limited. Fair?
